Cappingthe Lines
Financial & Legal Stabilization — securing every utility before the heavy work begins.
Financial & Legal Stabilization
In the trades, before you do any serious demo, you’ve got to “Cap the Lines.” You shut off the main water valve so you don’t flood the basement when you pull out a sink. You pull the fuses so you don’t get electrocuted when you move a wall. You secure the utilities so the site doesn’t become a hazard while you’re working.
In your divorce, Capping the Lines means getting your Financial and Digital Plumbing under control. If you leave joint accounts “live” or shared passwords “active,” you’re basically leaving a gas leak in the middle of your living room. It’s only a matter of time before something blows up!
I am changing every password today. I am installing the Keycard System on my life. Only I hold the card now. This isn't sneaky — it's Data Integrity. I need a private space to plan my Rebuild, and I am creating it.
Do you still have a shared Amazon account? Does she have the password to your email? Is your “Find My Phone” still linked to hers? These are Security Breaches, man! If she can see your location or read your messages, she is “on the site without a permit.”
You need to change every single password today. Think of it as installing a Keycard System on your life. Only you have the card now. This isn’t about being sneaky — it’s about Data Integrity.
Digital Security Checklist
Cap every digital line — only you hold the card now
Primary email is the master key to everything else. Change this first.
Use a password manager. No shared passwords with ex.
Change passwords and review who has access or can tag you.
Check for saved cards and addresses. Remove ex from account.
Netflix, Spotify, Apple Family, etc. Check shared subscriptions.
Your Security Vulnerability Assessment
Prompt: “Before going through the checklist — what digital access points are you most concerned about right now? Where do you feel most exposed? Which one would cause the most damage if it was used against you, and why?”
I am capping the financial pipes to code — not cutting them illegally. I am doing this professionally, with paper trails and legal guidance. Every dollar in my Operating Account is for the New Build. No more leaks.
Are there joint credit cards that are still being “tapped”? Auto-withdrawals going to a joint account you don’t control? We need to Cap those Pipes immediately. You need to open your own “Operating Account” — your own Project Fund. Every dollar goes into the New Build.
We do this “To Code” — according to the legal rules in your area. We don’t “cut the lines” in a way that makes a judge angry. We do it professionally, with Notices and Paper Trails. We’re Capping the Lines, not Vandalizing the Property.
Do NOT drain joint accounts unilaterally. Do NOT close joint lines of credit without legal advice. Any financial changes during separation can be reviewed by a court. Get your lawyer’s guidance before capping any high-risk financial line. Doing it to code protects you legally.
Financial Pipes Capper
Stop the leaks — cap every joint financial line to code
Being organized isn't just 'neat' — it's a massive Strategic Advantage. It shows you are a serious professional who is running a tight site. When the Building Inspector shows up, you want to be the guy who has his permits and blueprints ready to go.
— The Rebuild Project
My Vault is organized. Every text, every bank statement, every school report — in one place. When the judge asks, I don't scramble. I walk in with my Project File. That's the difference between a professional and a guy standing in a field getting yelled at.
Do you have a “Project File” for your lawyer? Is it organized, or is it just a mess of loose papers in a shoebox? You need a Vault. Whether it’s an encrypted digital folder or a locked filing cabinet, every piece of Site Documentation needs to be in one place.
Every text from the ex, every bank statement, every school report. When the Building Inspector (the judge or the mediator) shows up, you want to be the guy who has his Permits and Blueprints ready to go. Being organized isn’t just “neat” — it’s a massive Strategic Advantage.

The Site After Stabilization
Prompt: “When your digital lines are capped, your financial pipes are secured, and your Legal Vault is organized — what changes about how you show up to this process? How does it change your confidence, your energy, and your ability to make good decisions when you're not constantly worried about leaks and breaches?”
The Site Stabilization Report
This entry will be saved to your Rebuild Project Journal on the dashboard
Prompt: “Write your full Site Stabilization Report. Section 1: Digital Security — list the 3 most critical digital lines you are capping this week and your specific action for each. Section 2: Financial Pipes — name the most important financial line that needs capping, the legal approach you are taking, and your target date. Section 3: Legal Vault — what is currently missing from your Vault, and your plan to secure it. Close with a Stabilization Commitment Statement — what you commit to having secured within 30 days.”
The digital lines are capped. The financial pipes are secured. The Legal Vault is organized. No more value is leaking out of your life while you’re trying to build. You stopped the flooding and the short-circuits. By completing this section, your Financial and Digital Infrastructure is secure. The site is stabilized. You are ready for the heavy work ahead.
Site Clearing & Structural Assessment
Eight sections. Eight tools. Red Tags, BIFF protocols, emotional waste managed, utilities checked, structural weaknesses documented, salvage sorted, perimeter fence up, and every line capped. This site is ready for the build.
